Jewelry Care Guide
We sell jewelry made from a variety of materials. We have collected some care instructions for you to make sure you can enjoy your jewelry for a long time, and your pieces keep a nice shine.
In general, and regardless of the material, you should take off the jewelry while gardening, crafting, or washing dishes. Store your jewelry pieces individually (ideally in soft bags in your jewelry box) and avoid contact with other metallic objects (keys, coins, etc.) to prevent scratching.
Gold Plating
To protect your jewelry’s gold plating, all contact with soap, lotion, sweat, and perfume should be avoided. We recommend taking your jewelry off before swimming, showering, sleeping, and exercising.
Silver
Tarnished silver jewelry can be easily cleaned using a standard toothpaste without abrasive particles. Gently rub the toothpaste on the dry piece of jewelry with dry fingers. Afterwards, rinse the jewelry with lukewarm water and dry it off carefully. Your jewelry can be easily cleaned using special silver-plating solutions, which can be found in drugstores and specialist shops. Avoid storing your silver jewelry in the bathroom, as the high humidity accelerates tarnishing.
14kt Gold
Jewelry made from 14K gold is made to last you a lifetime. It can be worn when swimming, showering, and during exercise without losing its shine. We recommend taking it off before going to sleep to avoid bending. When needed, it can be cleaned with gentle soap and a soft toothbrush.
Pearls
Natural pearls can be damaged by sweat, perfume, makeup, shower gel, or body lotions. Either that or they can become fogged, losing their brilliance. Only use mild hand soap and water for cleaning and dry the pearl with a soft cloth. Never use chemical cleaning agents or ultrasonic cleaning baths.
Coloured Gemstones
It is best to clean natural gemstones with a mild soap and a toothbrush. Afterwards, dry the stone with a soft cloth. As almost every stone will have tiny inclusions or fine cracks, do not use chemical cleaning agents or ultrasonic cleaning baths and avoid contact with lotion and oil.
